days of tumblr

If a tumblr falls in the forest, and no followers are there to reblog it, does it make a sound?

.

Mainly a collection of quotes and stuff I like, with occasional interludes of my bitterness 'n' straight-up mentally ill thots. No identifying details. You don't know me.

Read and paid

Today I started listening to an audio book for temping survival purposes.  I don’t know enough about music to move beyond the palatable mainstream indie soundtracks of certain movies—I’m just not ready to leave my comfort zone and try to comprehend Belle & Sebastian writ-large, ok!  So I need something else to stimulate my ears.  It reminds me of other books I’ve read at work.

I read Eloise for the first time a few months ago while working in the children’s department of the bookstore.  Someone had left red velvet cupcakes in the break room and decadence was the order of the day.

The summer I worked at a newspaper, I would drive 45 minutes down the parkway, and if I was early, I would sit in my car for a few minutes and read my library copy of The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood, the last book in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series.

Freshman year of college, I worked at in information desk at my dorm.  I was reading In Her Shoes because the movie version came out in theaters that fall.  Some dad remarked on it, something about how Cameron Diaz didn’t look Jewish, which somehow came out as an accusation aimed at me.  Like it was my fault they put Cameron Diaz in a movie based on a Jennifer Weiner book.  (She’s good in the movie.)

The summer after high school, I got hired to work at a banquet hall even though it hadn’t opened yet and mostly hadn’t been built yet.  I set up a “soda station” for the manager and spent the rest of the two days reading Everything Is Illuminiated and then Franny and Zooey.
